Hey Maeve,

Was this what you were talking about?

First of all, I have to say Ed Henry is one of my favorite correspondents from CNN. I think his question was actually quiet brave. Every single person in that room was probably wondering the same thing: Why had Obama waited days to come out in public with Geitner to express outrage about the AIG bonuses? And I certainly believe that the American public was thinking that. I saw a video on CNN.com and Henry said he decided to ask that question because he believed it would have been asked sooner, but when nobody asked it, he felt a need to represent most Americans and ask about the hot current issue.

For once, I don’t think that Obama’s answer was at all smooth or nice. The sarcastic tone of voice just did not sit well with me at all. I remember the time he admitted to “screwing up,” but now it seemed like he could not explain this mess-up. I know that it is not his fault, but he is the president and needs to have a better answer than that. I believe the night of this press conference marked the beginning of the END of President Obama’s honeymoon. He read his speech to the American people from a teleprompter, and then proceeded to answer questions from the reporters. This is totally not like him…a teleprompter! I guess he’s feeling the pressure.

I think that by saying, “I like to know what I’m talking about before I speak,” he was obviously trying to avoid answering and talking around the issue. However, in a way he answered the answer of why he had not come out earlier with a statement on what he thought about the AIG bonuses. It is obvious he did not know everything about the issue and didn’t know exactly “what he was talking about.” I feel for Obama, but he needs to step up his game!!! (some tough love…gosh, I will feel so bad after this blog!!!)

First of all, that was just an awesome clip of Obama, hands down. It kind of reminded me of former president Bush, who lacked articulation skills in general, hence all the ridiculous quotes his administration has left with the people. I am irritated at AIG and any other companies who decided to use their bailout money towards huge bonuses for their employees but still hope that Obama does not go the route of taxing 90% of their bonuses. And we wonder why companies decide to outsource. I like the use of bully pulpit here, where Obama is going to the people via the media and asking them to demand the money back from AIG reps because so far it has proven effective.
