Maya response to "who she was thinking about the night of the election" was that she thought of all of them. The night of the election i was thinking of our future because before i was little and didnt understand, but this time it will affect me in so many different ways. Since i am graduating and will be going to college and i will be turning 18. But i can not relate to maya with her answer because, first i am not African American, I have gone through what she has gone through, and like DJ said in class it doesnt matter if his skin color is black because he is half white and what matter most is who he is inside.

I really thought what Maya Angelou said about Obama winning was good. I liked how she was talking about how it doesn't matter what race everyone is but we are all united together as one. I really liked how Maya Angelou recited a part of her poem "Still I Rise".

I really liked the cartoon because it showed the statue of Abraham Lincoln congratulating Obama with a fist bump which is pretty cool. Whoever thought of this cartoon was pretty creative.

I am so glad that Obama has won!! I thin that this will be a very good change for America. Also I still wish that Hilary Clinton would have been our first female president but I have high hopes that maybe one day I will get to see that wish come true. The interview with Maya Angelou was really wonderful. I thought that she had wonderful things to say about Obama. The cartoon is also funny. It was great.

I liked the political cartoon. It shows the statue of Abraham Lincoln at Lincoln Memorial and president elect Barack Obama. Abraham Lincoln is shown holding out his knuckle in friendship to Barack Obama. Lincoln's legacy is being continued by Barack Obama. Lincoln ordered The Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War.
It was issued on September 22, 1862. The proclamation declared the freedom of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. I am very happy that Barack Obama was chosen to be the 44th President of the United States. The political cartoon demonstrates that Lincoln helped free the country of racism and through the election of Barack Obama this is made manifest.
I respect both Maya Angelou and Barack Obama. I find Maya Angelou and Barack Obama to be very inspirational people. Maya Angelou complimented Barack Obama's intelligence. She showed her approval by saying that she was filled with pride for her country. I am also filled with pride for my country. History was made on November 4th. I hope that one day we may see a woman president in the White House.

I think that after watching Maya Angelou speak such heartfelt and true words, reality has finally hit me.

Barack Obama is our President-elect.

I loved the cartoon because essentially it shows a powerful message even though it's just a cartoon. Look at the strides that we have made as a country that we have elected an African American president. A country that once was filled with prejudice, segregation and slavery, we have made strides and overcome it. As she recited her poem, those pictures really showed how this country has grown. Like Maya Angelou said, "We all rise," especially from our once horrible past as a country. As corny as it may sound, we truly are part of history.

I've always loved the poem " i rise " by Maya Angelou. It pretty much speaks for itself. Obama winning the election was a very proud moment for not only African Americans but for America. The fact that he is African American just makes blacks feel proud and excited. I love the fact that I have gotten the chance to experience history. In Maya Angelou's poem and her interview she is saying that she is happy that she got to live to see this day. African Americans have come so far and loved to see this moment. Despite that there are people out there that do not like obama he loves you in return and that he is still going to want to hear your ideas and suggestions. He want the American Nation and new and improved Nation.

I reallly liked what Maya Angelou had to say about Obama winning the election. I do believe the United States is starting to grow up. I was glad she said her poem because that is one of my favorite poems by here and it did describe our country as a whole.

I also liked the cartoon with Obama and Lincoln. It's funny. It shows that those who voted for Obama made a right choice and we would finally have a president that is for the people.

Wooo-Hooo! Obama won! I feel very priviledged that I got to witness history in the making that night.I think everyone is very excited to put Obama in the white house.Maya Angelou I think is one of those poeple. Her Poem "Still I Rise" is the perfect poem to accompany President Obama's win. Her poem symbolized freedom and the capacity to do anything and overcome it. I also enjoyed the political cartoon. I think this represents a new era in American History and Lincoln shaking Obama's hand represents Obama's official term as president.

Obama wins! First of, Maya Angelou is one of the most inspiring people I have ever heard. Every single word is like a melodious word that combines with others to form a poetic message. When she said, “I’m an American, baby!” I thought she was also very good-humored. “He has common sense, which is most uncommon.” This is a perfect example of her thoughtfulness and every single thing she said made me want to be better. Everything she said was extremely moving. Her poem, “Still I Rise” is one of my favorites, so I was excited when she recited part of it. I was not surprised Maya Angelou supports Barack Obama, but I definitely pleased to see how much she backs him up. I am sure many people that aren’t African American cannot feel what she does, but she helped me see how strongly her community feels about Obama’s win.

The cartoon where Obama is “bumping” fists with President Lincoln is very cute. The bump reminded me of the one Obama had with his wife, Michelle Obama. The Republican president, Lincoln, was definitely a beloved president. He helped move this country significantly and helped us somewhat progress to more acceptance and celebration of different people. In a way, Lincoln is a good example of what people want in a leader…charismatic and smart. Hopefully, Obama will not meet the same fate of Lincoln (being assassinated). Other than that, they will be remembered as great presidents.

Most people definitely expect a lot of Obama. His “HOPE” and “Yes we can!” message have encouraged people to get involved in politics. Hopefully he will not disappoint. Like he said in his speech on Tuesday, this will take time and effort. GO OBAMA!

I'm heckaaaaaa happy that Obama won. I knew he was gonna win though.it's awesome that he won. I hope that he makes the changes he talked about because we really need them. I think that video that maya angelo made was good and her poem was awesome.I really like her poem I thought it was cool that maya Angelou talked about how it doesn't matter about race. Just like monge said. That cartoon was awesome with Lincoln and Obama. They made obama face long really long though LOL. I like how they didn't show them shaking hands but they were knuckle touching (bumping fist) that was awesome.
