So which people voted for Obama?

Interesting polling information says that black voters, highly educated voters, and middle-age voters were key to helping Obama win this election.

I think that young voters actually taking time to go out and vote is a big thing. I think they came out and showed their support because they knew this election could change everything, and things have. What is good about this change is the it's the first time we're having an African American as a president. I believe that this won't be the last time for something. I think that high educated voters voted for President Obama because they believe he'll make or try to improve our country. I believe that these people are that ones that are tried of Republican and want change.

I am very happy that a lot of black people went out and voted for Obama. In a way I do not like that people are saying that he only won because of black people. Other people voted for him too. This makes me happy that many young people went out and voted, that would probably not go out and vote before. They were the difference in votes that we needed! Obama is now the new president and I am so happy. I like how many more educated people voted for Obama than McCain. I feel smart because of this.

I found that the findings of the GALLUP Poll were very interesting. While, it was expected for a large amount of black voters to give their vote to Obama I was surprised by the break down of a few of the other demographics. The amount of highly educated people, who voted for Obama, with postgraduate degrees was almost double that of those who voted for McCain. This surprised me because this was a group that was known for voting for Republicans. I was also surprised by the amount of older voters for voted for Obama. The amount of older voters was almost even split. Older voters are generally known for voting with Republicans.

This is indeed very interesting information. Eventhough I figured that most African American voters would vote for Obama, I did not think it would be almost 100%. That bit of information shocked me the most. I was also suprised to see that more voters from the ages of 50-64 voted for Obama than for McCain. Older voters tend to be more conservative, so they tend to vote Republican. However, I think one of the reasons why Obama won so many more votes from just about every type of voter was because of how low of an approval rating George W. Bush has gotten. I think that most Americans, when voting, decided they didn't want to have another Republican President. At least that's the feeling I got, especially since a couple states that usually vote Republican voted Democrat in this election.

First of all, even though I am pretty relieved the election is finally over, I am glad Obama won. The numbers from this poll were a bit unsurprising to me. Like 99% of black voters went Obama. Without any official polls or projected polls to support my theory, I had prior assumed the same thing. Also Obama won the young vote as well as the anti-evangelicals. The young vote was also kind of a given in my opinion, considering Obama's age and general young-ish appearance and appeal. His use of technology probably didn't hurt that.
The evangelicals, or values voters, have a long history of voting Republican, or socially conservative and so it makes sense that those who seldom attend church, or the anti-evangelicals, voted another way. Without strong opinions on issues that the church has taken a strong stance on, like abortion, I would assume voters would be more likely to vote Democrat, or socially liberal in elections.

Looking at this information, I am not surprised about which groups supported Obama the most. I think the fact that McCain was appealing to older, Caucasian, Christian, and Protestant voters was the reason there was such a divide. One of the Gallup Polls based on likely voters focused on their religions. More Protestants voted for McCain while more Catholics voted for Obama. This reminds me of JFK and his status of being the first Catholic president and how it was a big deal at the time. Also, Catholic support for Obama makes sense because, for example, the majority of Hispanic voters are Catholic. Most of these voters support Obama. Anyway, the percentages shown are fairly close for both Obama and McCain. Some people expected to see a greater difference in the popular vote, in favor of Obama. Perhaps this is a subtle outcome of the Bradley effect.. (???) Who knows...?

i think this was a very powerful thing. i think this showed people that african americans do have a voice. i think that we are now learning that we can be anything that we want. People who are highly educated voted at a high percentage which showed that Obama knew what he wanted, and can show us that he's ready for the job as a president. i am so glad he WON ! i belive that america wants a change !

I am not very surprised by all those who voted for Obama. Of course blacks voted from him, we've been waiting to see a black man in office even if he is half black. Obama being president inspires people, especially young black men to go after their dreams. I think the highly educated voters voted for Obama because they know that he can improve our country and bring us out of the darkness we have been in since Bush was in president. Of course more younger voters voted for Obama because they don't want somebody, McCain, who is getting ready to fall out on to the floor and die. Obama also connected with the younger voters. I am glad these people voted for Obama, they made the right choice.

The people who voted for Obama were the young people because he used a lot of technolgy to connect with them. For example, he used cellphones so he can text them. He also got the majority votes from African American and latino people. I think is because these people wanted him to win the most because he is going to do a alot for them.He won because it he is going to make a change to this country. He is bringing hope and happiness. The people that also voted for him were students because they want him to improve the college tution.

I think that a lot more young voters voted than any other election that has been out there, which is a really good thing because usually young people don't vote because they must think whats the point but apparently this election changed their mind, and with their help Obama won! =) & I'm really glad a lot of educated people voted for him too. I am very happy Barack Obama won, he deserved to win, he worked so hard, McCain worked hard too but Obama worked even harder, i think Obama will make a really good president. obama is really different from other presidents because he actually is the peoples voice or at least seems like it so far because other presidents have said that and they don't do anything they just make our nation worse, but with Obama we will have a better nation and economy than we do right now! =)

"So which people voted for Obama?"
i think that the people who voted for Obama were at most part black people and the Latin people. i was watching the news and it said that the Latin people had a higher turnout this election than the last and this election made history when it came to black voters, there was a very high percentage in favor of the democratic party. It wasn't only them but also the young voters, they "decided" who was going to be president in this election. i think that thanks to the young people our voice got heard and thats why Obama won this election!

It is a great thing that many educated voters were in support for Obama. Many wanted to support him for his words of change. I predicted there would be a high turn out for black voters. This proves that many people voted for him and not just becase he won by a land slide from one group of people. I see that people ages 65 or older were in support for McCain. I predicted that older people would favor towards McCain. I also find it interesting that 53% over 47% Catholics voted Barack. I hope there will be an even greater voter turn out next election since I am eligable to vote.

I was really surprised to hear that a lot of African-American people took part in the 2008 election. In previous elections, not that many African American showed up to vote, and for that I am really happy. Also, a lot of young voters voted for Obama.I was really surprised to see how more women(56%) voted for Obama than men(49%). I personally think that Obama really deserved being president of the United States. Not only is he bringing change to our country, but he is making history since he is the first black president elected ever. My hope for future elections is that a lot of voters show up and vote because voters can make a difference. As we saw in the 2008 Presidential Election, African American voters really made a difference!!

According to the polls there were a lot of changes during this election. Mostly, every group grew from a little to a lot in percentages. For example, African American voters grew by a lot during this election, but not only them. Also, a lot of Hispanics voted for Obama. Even a lot of highly educated voters voted for Obama. These results happened during this election because everyone wants change. Another reason is that Obama has great ideas on how to fix the problems we are having.

After looking at this information, I wasn't too surprised to find that a large percent of black voters and voters from 18 to 29 years old voted for Obama. I was however surprised that the percent of postgraduates who voted for Obama was twice that of McCain. I was surprised because that certain demographic was previously known for voting Republican. Obama really used the internet to appeal to younger voters, and it clearly worked well for him. The age demographic of 50 to 64 years old was almost split, and I was surprised since a lot of older people tend to vote Republican. I think a lot of Americans want change, and that's why they voted the way they did. I'm really excited that Obama was elected president.
