Remember the engagement ring site from before?

Well here's a slightly different take on it.

I think this post was more powerful than the other engagement ring post. About 25.000 people die every single day from hunger related causes. And most of those people are children, with 25% of the 230 million living hungry in Sub-Saharan Africa, being children. Looking at how many children a year those eight celebrities could feed just with their engagement ring alone, really puts things into perspective. Not to say that all of those celebrities are selfish, materialistic people, but it isn't necessary for a man to spend that much on an engagement ring alone. It may just be somewhat "pocket change" to those who are wealthier, but that money, or at least some of it, can be used to help fight world hunger. A ring that expensive or large doesn't really say anything about that relationship, spending a lot of money on a ring doesn't guarantee that the relationship will always work out. Obviously celebrities already have a lot, so why spend money on a ring cost that costs so much with all of the suffering poor people in the world? Mariah Carey's $2,500,000 ring would feed approximately 50,000 starving children for a year. Jennifer Lopez's two rings, one $3,000,000 and the other $1,000,000, would feed 80,000 starving African children a year. While Beyonce's $5,000,000 ring could feed 100,000 starving children. All of that money was spent on just a ring, something the celebrities will just wear on their fingers, other than being able to show it off, rings that expensive really have no other significance. I'm not saying that they shouldn't spend money on engagement rings, but with so many starving people, maybe their priorities should be a bit different. There are 57.5 million Sub-Saharan African children who are hungry, and if the celebrities just donated as much as they spend on engagement rings they'd feed millions of starving children.

That is completely ridiculous. Celebrities as well as regular people do not need engagement rings or any type of jewelry that is ever that expensive. People obviously need to change their priorities; it's a shame that people don't realize how over-extravagant our lives are at times. I believe it was Beyonce's $5,000,000 that could feed at least 100,000 people A YEAR. Who needs a ring that costs that much money? NO ONE does. That is just ridiculous.

I hope this website will make people realize how greedy we sometimes are. Do we ever really need a ring that costs so much? I don't think so. The money that we spend on material possessions could go to better causes like ending poverty. After seeing how many African children could be fed with one ring I began wishing people would realize how ridiculous we can be. It isn't neccessary to have a ring that costs $5,000,000. Love shouldn't be about who much someone spends on a ring.
