Wow! That's so cool! =] It's amazing how the Senate and the House of Representative want to inform the younger generation more by posting videos on YouTube. Everyone goes on YouTube. I am so excited about these YouTube accounts because now it is easier to come in contact with your Representative or Senator about a issue in your community. You can send them a video message showing them the problem. I like that the national government is putting in a lot of effort to communicate with and inform the American public especially the younger generation (18-25) about what is going on.

The day and age we live in amazes me. I never thought Representatives and Senators would ever actually have a channel on Youtube. First of all, aren't they too busy to do this? Where do they find time to do these interviews that seem to be only available via Youtube. At least that's the impression I get from some of the videos. Some videos, I can understand why they are posted here. They are videos of the senators and representatives discussing issues at places like schools.

I wonder, who is actually posting up all of these videos? Is there a special job that has been created for this purpose? Does someone actually have to say "My job is posting Congressman Lungren's videos on Youtube"?

Also, I wonder if this is actually beneficial. In theory, it seems like a great idea. Everybody loves Youtube. This should be a great linkage institution. However, I don't think that the reason most people go to Youtube is to look up things like this. From experience, I've noticed that most people go to Youtube looking for short videos for entertainment value. It hasn't really been seen as a resource for educating people about Congress.

After witnessing the successful techniques Barack Obama used in his campaign, I had no doubt that this era will be a turning point in the relationship between the government and the media. I was actually not shocked to see that the legislative branch has joined the soon-to-be executive branch in using YouTube and similar forms of technology in general to their advantage. I am very happy that the Senate and the House of Representatives are trying to reach out to "the people." I believe that now the people includes young voters. I am so excited that my generation can finally get interested in not only Barack Obama (although he is pretty exciting, I must admit), but also in the fabulous legislative branch.
