I think it will work because President Obama is demonstrating that he does want to work with Republicans. He invites them to meetings and parties held in the White House. Obama knows that it will take a lot of work to fix the U.S. economy. He admits that he made a mistake when he nominated Tom Daschle and apologized at the White House Super Bowl party.
An Arizona Representative Trent Franks said “First of all, when you have a meeting like this, it humanizes and personalizes opponents, where you recognize them as human beings, I think that does a lot towards helping people put aside politics and really try to do what is best for the country.” Obama understands that he has to work with Republicans in order to fix the current economic situation. I believe that through inviting Republicans to White House meetings Obama is demonstrating that he has put politics aside in order to do everything in his power to fix the economic situation.
