Who you callin' a maverick?

You know how Palin kept referring to the idea that she and McCain are both seen as "outsiders" and "mavericks"? Here's a crazy article about the history of the term. A big shout out to Ms Man who sent the article.

I do think that Sarah Palin was over using the term "Maverick" in the Vice-Presidential debate. It was a bit irritating because it was almost like she had nothing else to say about John McCain, or that by saying that it would in turn make him more "appealing." However, I do think that it does hinder his campaign though. The idea that John McCain is a maverick and not really to be associated too closely with one political party, when in fact he identifies as a Republican is a bit confusing. This could cause voters who are Republican to not want to vote for him because he is not staying loyal to their party.

If John McCain truely feels he is a "maverick," then he should just register as an independent and run as a third party candidate.
