Wow. It's kinda sad how often people are caught in political scandals and its even sadder that there are probably more out there who aren't getting caught. People are so much driven by greed that it will cause them to auction off a seat in the Senate! That was crazy when I first heard it in Ms. Cerutti's class when she told. It was crazy because it didn't surprise me at all that this had happened. Mr. Blagojevich was auctioning off the seat and that alone says a lot about him but he was also considering taking the seat for himself. I think that's why there are so many things wrong with our government and country. There aren't enough people doing their job because they want to help protect the country and make the US a better place but they want to make themselves better and earn $. I hope that he gets impeached before he can appoint someone to the seat because he still has the power under Illinois law and I hope that he gets punished for what he did.

When i was home sick I overheard something about this over the radio. I didnt think it was true. It is sad to heard that people we trust in our government are bad. These kind of people give all the legit folks a bad name. Im glad he got arrested. If he wanted to do things like this he should of gotten out of the office and he should of hit the streets of Illinois and bust some sales. But of course that is totally wrong even though it was the same thing he was doing. Also I hope he gets impeached before he can appoint someone to his seat.

I was slightly surprised when I first heard this on the radio the other morning. After listening to the radio and reading this article, it makes me feel disappointed in our government that there are people like that. I;m sure there are even more people just as greedy as Blagojevich in our government, who are doing similar things and just haven't been caught yet. It seems like more and more people in the government aren't there because they want to strengthen and provide for the common good of Americans, but are doing it simply to further themselves and receive money. I was confused that his lawyer said that the governor was surprised and feels like he did nothing wrong. He was trying to sell a seat, not to the person most qualified or best for that seat, but whoever would have given him something great in return, otherwise he threatened to take the seat himself. I don't understand how he thinks that isn't wrong. I really hope he gets impeached before getting the chance to appoint someone to the seat.

When I first heard that the governor of Illinois was selling Obama’s Senate seat on the radio, I was shocked. I thought to myself “Shouldn’t he be arrested for doing that? Isn’t that illegal?”. Sure enough, he was arrested. I was really surprised how cocky and arrogant Blagojevich was on the recorded conversations with the other people. He wasn’t at all ashamed of selling Obama’s Senate seat then, and he still believes he didn’t do anything wrong. He was using his position as governor as political and personal gain. I feel bad for the people for Illinois that they have a corrupt governor who is the head of the executive branch for their state, and he has been their governor since 2003. I also do hope that he will be impeached and that Obama’s replacement will be a candidate well qualified for the position and one of the highest integrity.
