This article is an article we all should be happy about. Women in Iraq showed their strength and courage, and Iraq has calmed down its violence. I am really glad that now, things have changed in Iraq. I hope more women will strike their fears out and make an effort to get their freedom. I admire those women who went out and drove and went out for driving lessons. From all the violence they have experienced from their environment, they still took a chance and became independent. I agree with the woman who said that she can not always have to depend on her brother to drive her everywhere. Women are independent and we can do anything that men can do. There are still other countries in which women still don't have freedom and are still being treated as inferior, and it sucks. I hope that even little by little, this fact will change. If it was possible for Ashwa Mejid to drive, then it will be possible for women on other countries to have their freedom and not be scared. If it was possible for Iraq to lessen the violence, then it will be possible for the other countries to aim for peace.
First of all, I would like to say that I am glad to hear that women from Iraq are back driving on the road. I understand that many women have not been driving for their personal safety and have resulted to being driven by a male figure in their life. I hate the fact that before women were dependent on men. The girl from the article talks about how her brother's car had been sitting at her house unused for a very long time because he was in jail and her father would not let her use it because she was female! They also talked about the women having stopped wearing make up and covering their faces for their own protection. Finally, after years of waiting things have gotten better more women are signing up to take driving classes and now there are more women on the road. I am glad things have changed for the better.
In my opinion, I think that it's good that women now have the rights to drive. Women should be treated equal like how men are treated. It is unfortunate that women have to depend on men. I think that women have the ability to make their life successful and not just depend on other people. Women should not treated inferior anywhere. God created us equal and we should treat each other with respect.
Woooo that article is intence. Thats hecka mest up how women use to disappear when they drove thats intence. I agree with Ahmed good for her that she takes a risk and not where her scarf. She's standing up for what she believes in and thats pretty cool to me =). This article makes me mad it reminds me how i still have to get my licenses ughhhhhh.

Ahmed is an inspiration to all women especially Middle Eastern women. She was very brave taking the risk to drive and taking her scarf off. She has a lot of courage for standing up for what she believes in.Ahmed is a symbol for all women to be strong and stand up for their rights.
I feel like this is a good turn. It shows us that people are trying to go back to their own normal lives and go back to the ways that they were used to before 2003. As a young lady i feel pride in this because not many would do things that would danger themselves, but yet this young lady is doing so, and my doing so she is showing that nothing can keep her down.
As I read I start to learn that the thought of though was something that we fear. But other then that I felt that what Ahmed is doing is a big leap forward. By doing this she is showing that women should be held back and be able to do this that they were free to do , but were taken away from them just because of extremist. Having to rely on men to get around, more less when women themselves can drive and get around on themselves, is not needed. So for what she as done I give her a big thumbs up and hope that others see this and follow along with her and show others wrong.
This is sad but empowering. The article said the car bombing were down to one to two a day, that is still a lot to me. I'm glad women are taking the initive to drive again. It's sad how a basic task such as driving a car was something women could no longer do. It's good thought that Iraq is becoming a somewhat safer place to live.
I'm glad to see that there has been development in Iraq that has been beneficial to regular everyday people. It's refreshing to hear about something beneficial that has happened in Iraq as opposed to endless horror stories. I admire the strength and independence that Ahmed as well as other women showed as they took on driving once again despite the turmoil and violence that has been present in the country. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if I were ever in this position, especially since I have had the opportunity to obtain a license at my young age. I've gained so much more respect for these women such as Ahmed and I have also gained a much better appreciation for living in a country in which I am capable of something as simple as driving.
I think is good that women from Iraq can drive again. I think now Iraq is calmed in their violence.I think people should have a right to drive by them having themselves licences.I dont think this is right, women dissapearing when driving. This is really stupid.WOMEN SHOULD HAVE THEIR OWN RIGHTS.
