I think that that very cool. To be known as the first women to vote is something someone should be proud of. Being one of the first women, Irma had a lot of courage, because since it was something new, and so men probably didn't believe women had the right to vote. Irma being one of the first and living over 100 years is also a interesting. Not only will she be known for being one of the first women to vote, but she known for being one of the oldest voter in Connecticut. Having her present for many years gives us inside on how it was in the 1920s and how voting effect her life.
At first when i read this i thought that she was voting way back when George Washington was running! But then i remembered that woman weren't allowed to vote until way later. I think it is crazy that she is still alive but i still believe it because of technology, which is making people live longer. It would be better if she lived in California though. I want to know if she democrat or republican. She better vote for obama!! for her mama!!
she is definitely hardcore when it comes to voting. I personally have a lot of respect for her because as soon as she was able to vote she took the time out of her schedule to vote. Irma Schmit definitely wants her opinion to count in every election. -courtney bozzo
Whoa! She is someone to respect! According to this news article, she has not missed a single election, and she first started in 1920 when woman were granted the right to vote. Irma Schmidt is 110 years old and is the oldest registered voter in Connecticut. She was part of the Women Suffrage Movement; she was honored by Secretary Susan Bysewicz and Kevin Sullivan. This should set an example for everyone to go out a vote. Despite her age, she knows that voting is very important. I would like to know what she think about the candidates of today running for president and who she is supporting. I didn’t think that a woman who first voted in 1920 still lived to tell her story. She is very lucky. I’m still amazed at this.
When I read this article, all I can say is... WHOA! It's amazing how she's still alive up to this day. It is definitely an honor to be the first woman to vote. She can encourage many of us to vote on this coming election. She definitely cares for the country and wants the best leader. Even though she's very old she still make time to vote.
This is so COOL! Not only that she's the very first woman to vote but she's 110 years old! I still can't believe that someone could live up to that age. She can definitely encourage everyone to vote on this coming election. This just shows that she really cares for the country and wants to make a difference. Even though, that she's very old she still makes the time to vote and everyone should give her all the props and respect.
Wow! I think that is really great to have a women that voted, when women were first allowed to vote in 1920. I never thought that a women who first voted in the 1920 election was still alive, but I was wrong. I think that when the caption said "that since 1920 Irma Schmidt has not missed an election" was really interesting. It is so interesting to read about people that want to make a difference and want their voices to be heard. Irma is the oldest registered voter in Connecticut with an age of 110. Since she has never missed in election, I can conclude that she will be voting in the 2008 Elections, and I wonder who is she going to be voting for? Irma took part in the Woman's Suffrage Movement, and for that was honored by Susan Bysewic and Kevin Sullivan. The Woman's Suffrage Movement was when women fought to have the same right as men in voting. For that particular reason she truly deserves my respect. She is a woman that wants to make a difference! Go Mrs. Irma Schmidt!
When I read the title, I thought that she voted back in the early 1800s and that this story couldn't be true. But I think that is very exciting to be the oldest voter alive. I wasn't thinking of the voter being a girl. It shows that Irma is very dedicated and is always concerned about who is going to be next in office. She has been through a lot and she would be part of history once again during this coming up election. I hope I can make it to 100 plus.
I think is cool to be knows as the oldest voter in your city or country. Irma is really old and so cute. I was so impressed when it said that she was 110 years old. She was the first women who voted. She talk about how voting effected her. I think she is a women to be respected. She has voted all her life and she is proud of been known as one of oldest voters in connecticut.

WOW!!!! It's amazing how old she is and how interested she is in the elections this year. I think it's also a surprise for her to finally have seen a women, an African American and white man run this presidential election. I bet she was really fascintaed with all these crazy debates that they have been having. Since she has MANY experiences in the past presidential elections I think she would pick the best canidate she belives would be good to run our country.
man i wish i was able to be the oldest women to vote for president! that would be freakin awesome! haha. i cant believe this woman has lived till she was 110. wouldnt she want to die? because shes so old. but i think its cool that she was the first women to vote. it kinda inspires me to want to vote because maybe one day i will be the oldest that voted for the first black president. But that wont happen because i wont be 18 until december. oh if only the elections were in january!
Irma Schmidt is awesome! I love how she's still voting to this day and hasn't missed a voting election since women got to vote. I think it's cool how she's 110 and she doesn't even look that old. She looks like she still has a lot of energy for a 110 year old person. Women should look up to her and realize the struggles she went through. After seeing this woman and hearing about her, I think women should start voting and appreciate the fact that they can vote now.
When i first saw this i thought it was funny going through her pictures because she is really old and i don't think i would want pictures of myself at that age posted up online! I feel bad for the lady because people probably make fun of her for being so old. I guess its good that she is still voting. the good thing about it is that at least she is still recognized for being the oldest woman voter registered to date. She is very lucky because she can go down in history for that and also because she has gone through the growth of the voting experience.
This is funny because she has gone through many elections; she knows the inns and the outs about elections. I think that her vote matters. She has been one of a million women who got to vote when the law came that women were able to vote. Its funny seeing her and knowing that she is still voting because I think you would think that since she’s been through many elections it would start not to matter any more. That is cool that she’s voting again.
I think that its kinda of weird but good at the same time. She should get a little bit more recognition. That's pretty intense though. She should be proud of that though. I hope that i live that long. She got a chance to experience an important event in history. Women not being able to vote was a very big issue and when it was approved as a law it was an amazing time in history. Irma is very brave and strong because she is still here until this day. and she been living for over a hundred years. that's crazy . i gotta meet this lady . !!!!she been around when George Washington was alive .....dannnnnnnng. she is a GGGGGG. straight up

I think this is fantastic. She must really love the United States to not have missed one election. She must be a very dedicated citizen and believes what is right for the country. I respect her for not being lazy and going out to vote every election. Besides being the first woman to vote she also has the honor of saying " I have voted every election. Umm.. omg. 110 years is very old.. like unnaturally old. I think that she must be a very interesting person to talk to, since she probably has many stories. She has lived through the most eventful century, the twentieth century, and has been alive during everything from the 1906 earthquake to the civil rights movement to 9/11. She has lived through a few wars and has first-hand experience of what textbooks try to explain. The article, however, focuses on how she was a part of another historic event, the women's suffrage movement. It is amazing how she has voted in every election since 1920. This election especially should be a significant one for her since there is an African-American man on the ballot for president. In 1920, this was far from possible. It must be great to have a first-hand experience seeing the evolution of social and political conditions in the United States. Also, that second picture made me want cake hella bad. like a la mode or something.
